The majority of the show was shot on the ARRI Alexa mini, The reasoning behind this choice comes down to 3 main consideration points.

After going over camera language with the director and looking at the possible locations that we would be shooting in, I realised that dynamic range was going to be crucial for this feature. We had high contrast lighting scenarios for concert scenes, there was also gone a be a good amount of bright daylight scenes that required the highlights headroom the Alexa provided.
Skin tones were paramount as well given that I was going to light a good amount of close ups using “Beauty-esque” lighting.
The small and nimble form factor was gonna aid in our tight shooting schedule, which is also crucial for some of the handheld setups as well. The Alexa mini also had in built NDs which was going to save us quite a lot of time in between setups, especially for the “documentary” shooting we were going to employ for certain scenes.
